These photos come from a boat ride on a fishing trawler, breaking sea ice from Illulisat to Quasianguit town. We started the ride in the evening and then the long arctic twilight gradually dipped us into a very still and frosty night. Most of the trip was spent above deck, and many fingers nearly came to frostbite taking this series of photos. A tripod was a must, and accounts for the stability of the ship against the blurred motion of the sea and ice.
